Bill Gates indicates what are the key investments you have to make with your money by 2024

New developments in technology are growing by leaps and bounds, but not all of them will mark a before and after in society, according to Bill Gates, co-founder of Microsoft. The tycoon has recently participated in a Reddit conversation forum, where he has given his opinion on some of the most talked-about concepts currently in technology, such as Web3, the Metaverse, or artificial intelligence (AI).

One of Gates’ clearest responses came after one of his Reddit users asked him: “Many years ago, I think around the year 2000, I heard you say something on TV like, ‘People are grossly overestimating what the internet will be like in 5 years and vastly underestimating what it will be like in 10 years. Is there any gigantic technological change at a similar stage right now?” he noted.

Gates responded forcefully that the great technological change will come from artificial intelligence. “I don’t think Web3 is that big or that the Metaverse stuff alone is revolutionary, but AI is pretty revolutionary,” he said.

Specifically, the billionaire has particularly focused on generative artificial intelligence, which is capable of creating content. “I’m quite impressed with the rate of improvement in these AIs. I think they will have a big impact,” he commented.

An example of this generative artificial intelligence would be tools like ChatGPT, a chatbot prototype specialized in the language model developed by OpenAI that is capable of generating written texts very similar to those of a human.

For Gates, “it gives an idea of what has to come. I’m impressed with all this focus and the rate of innovation,” he said.

Regarding how generative artificial intelligence could affect the world, the Microsoft co-founder has set an example by taking it to the field of the Gates Foundation, focused on the eradication of poverty and investment in education and health programs.

Thinking in that context, he noted, “We want to have tutors who help children learn math and stay interested. We want medical help for people in Africa who can’t access a doctor,” Gates added. “I still work with Microsoft a little bit, so I’m following this very closely,” she said.
