Who Is Roaring Kitty and Does His Comeback Signal a Bullish Trend for Cat Meme Coins?

In 2021, on-chain analytics platform Lookonchain has revealed the role of a well-known retail trader Roaring Kitty in last year’s GameStop (GME) stock frenzy and the possible effect his renewed presence could have on meme coins.

According to Lookonchain, there has been increasing activity in the meme coin space since Roaring Kitty (@TheRoaringKitty) suddenly resurfaced after an absence of three years. Earlier in 2021, he was idolized by some investors when he led an army of traders to increase GameStop’s share price that made his initial $53k investment come out as astonishing $48mn by January 2021.

After a sleeping cat video was uploaded in June 2021, Roaring Kitty took a break from social media until May 13th when he appeared unexpectedly. When this famous person came back with a post featuring an avid gamer that looked hard into the screen, two other meme coins went through incredible surge: GameStop’s rose over 2,500% while Roaring Kitty (KITTY) increased by over 13,000%.

It is reminiscent of the frenzy that surrounded Dogecoin during the meme coin season of 2021 where “The Dog Days are Over” became its highest point ever attainable in May 2021 due to the influence of Roaring Kitty among others. Notably, it is interesting to note that his new videos include hints towards things such as “the dog days are over” and cats; possibly pointing to an imminent craze for cat-themed meme coins.

Lookonchain has identified several feline-inspired or related memes which could be potential successors to Dogecoin including Popcat, Mew, Michicoin, Mogcoin, Toshi Wen and even Roaring Kitty itself. Some big fishes and large investors have been accumulating these memes as shown by Lookonchain for these WENS, MOG and other Catcoins, which means that there is a possibility of a major upside.

Roaring Kitty’s return in this meme coin frenzy has revived excitement, speculation and expectations surrounding the next wave of meme coin mania which may be driven by cat-themed tokens due to his everlasting market influence and cultic following among retail traders.
