Worldcoin, the platform to have a digital ID that verifies you as a human, can now be used on Telegram

-As Artificial intelligence (AI) advances, it becomes increasingly necessary to use tools that help prove that the user behind an account is a human and not a machine.

Worldcoin is an Ethereum-based cryptocurrency created by Sam Altman, the CEO and co-founder of OpenAI (ChatGPT, DALL-E, and Whisper) that uses biometric recognition to provide a reliable way to authenticate humans online. Its goal is to counter bots and fake virtual identities through a digital currency distribution mechanism similar to that used in universal basic income.

The project began in 2019, and on December 13, they presented an update to their protocol. As stated in a press release, World ID 2.0 is a digital passport for humanity that is integrated into new platforms and will offer greater privacy.

Until now, Worldcoin could be used on Discord, Telnet Protocol, and Okta’s Auth0. Since last week, Shopify, Mercado Libre, Minecraft, Reddit, and Telegram have joined the list of platforms where cryptocurrency can be used.

Artificial intelligence makes Worldcoin necessary

Altman’s company details that the increase in Worldcoin registrations is due to artificial intelligence (AI). The advancement of this technology has led to the need for tools that allow us to differentiate between online content generated by humans and that designed by AI.

Their humanity verification services are available in various parts of the world and have recently expanded into Mexico and Singapore. Currently, almost five million people around the globe have a World ID and more than 2.5 million have verified their human status in an Orb to be able to fully use it.

New forms of verification with World ID 2.0

In addition to the new features already mentioned, the company has worked on new levels of verification with World ID 2.0. As they clarify, these options will allow users to use their system based on the security needs of each application.

The company is committed to ensuring that people do not share more information than is necessary or what they want to share with certain applications thanks to new forms of verification. For example, users will be able to choose to verify themselves through a linked device or the additional facial authentication Orb for high-security use cases.

Previously, only Internet users who had verified themselves on an Orb could use their Worlds ID; now, it will only be essential in specific cases.

In short, developers will also have new levels of verification. In this way, they will be able to select the verification requirements they want to implement for the consumers of their applications or services with Worldcoin.
